This Women’s Month, Upper Union and Reverie Social Table are coming together for an intimate Sunday lunch collaboration celebrating women at the table, in the kitchen and in the cellar.
Hosted by chef Amori Burger and Reverie Social Table’s chef Julia Hattingh, the series will take place over four Sundays in August. Each lunch will feature a three-course menu, a few surprise extras and wines poured by a featured female winemaker.
Bringing together two Cape Town restaurants with distinct yet complementary approaches to hospitality, the series is designed as a convivial celebration of food, wine and conversation. With only 16 seats available at each lunch, guests can expect a generous, close-up dining experience shaped by seasonal cooking, shared plates and carefully selected South African wines.
The menu will include signature-style dishes from each kitchen alongside collaborative plates created especially for the occasion. Freshly baked bread and a friandise will be served as extra touches, with the wines introduced by the winemaker featured at each lunch.

Lunch dates:
- 2 August: Reverie Social Table with Olifantsberg Wines
- 9 August: Reverie Social Table with Kasteelberg Wines & RAAR
- 23 August: Upper Union with McFarlane Wines
- 30 August: Upper Union with Atlas Swift
The women behind the menus
For Amori Burger, the series is rooted in the spirit of Sunday lunch: generous food, shared plates and the warmth of gathering around the table. Her menus for the collaboration will meet Julia Hattingh’s distinctive approach at Reverie Social Table in a celebration of women, food and wine.
Reverie Social Table, based in Observatory, is one of Cape Town’s most distinctive dining experiences: a communal table built around seasonal cooking, local wine and the joy of conversation. Chef-owner Julia Hattingh’s menus focus on sustainable, hyper-seasonal produce and are composed to complement wines from local producers.
Featured winemakers
Each Sunday lunch will spotlight one female winemaker, with wines selected to complement the menu and showcase the diversity of South African wine. The featured producers include Olifantsberg with Elizma Visser, Kasteelberg Wines & RAAR with Sheree Nothnagel, McFarlane Wines with Alexandra McFarlane, and Atlas Swift with Welma Smith.

Bookings are essential, with seating limited to just 16 guests per lunch. The experience is priced at R1 500 per person, including wine.
