Located within a heritage building in the bustling and eclectic Kloof Street Neighbourhood, Upper Union is a stylish eatery serving up a modern, shared-dining concept in the Mother City.

Upper Union has two levels. On the ground floor we offer both interior and exterior seating on the terrace, together with a pause lounge.
Upstairs is our private dining room which seats eight, our cocktail bar and limited restaurant seating with an accompanying balcony.

Chef Amori
CHEF Amori Burger
Chef Amori Burger is the Executive Chef at Upper Union. Amori’s cooking style comes from her love of hosting friends and family at her home. She enjoys a dinner party or, even better, a leisurely Sunday lunch. With Upper Union, she recreates that feeling of sitting around a table, sharing food, discussing the flavours and enjoying a great bottle of wine. Her style is simple but bold.
She chooses ingredients that allow for interesting spice combinations, some heat from fresh chilli balanced out with acidity. Inspired by the women in her family, her earliest memory of cooking was making flapjacks with her sisters on the weekends at home. As part of a large family sharing food and hosting has always been an important part of celebrations.
This is what led her to pursue her passion for hospitality and graduate from Silwood Kitchens. Amori joined the MORE Family Collection in 2021 to run the culinary offering at two of their lodges in the Sabi Sand – Ivory Lodge and River Lodge. Before opening Upper Union, Amori helmed the culinary offering at the Collection’s Lion Sands properties. Prior to joining the group, she launched the well-loved Linden restaurant, Van der Linde in Johannesburg.
